7 points to keep in mind when evaluating your Website

Every business needs a Website, in today’s connected and online business world that isn’t even a question, but not every website is effective.

When regarding to the building of a website, there isn’t a fits all recipe for success, although there are some factors that can’t be underestimated.

1 – Mobile Readiness

The days that we just needed a simple desktop website are way passed. No matter the business area most of the web traffic is on mobile

A study from comscore.com, shows that mobile traffic already represents 65 percent of digital media time in US.

Accessing a  website from a mobile device isn’t the same as in the computer, the screen size is smaller and the navigations is harder, but you still want people to get the information, right?

Think about the experience you want to give to your clients. If your website is not yet responsive, you really should put it as a priority, for yesterday…

2 – Content friendly

Content is King

Every search algorithm gives higher ranking to websites that generate relevant content recurrently.

If you have a static website presenting only your products, think about how to keep your customers coming back.
A blog, or a place where you could include News about you and your industry, is a great way to keep your SEO rankings healthy, and show your customers that you keep an eye on the latest business trends.

3 – Brand Consistency

Like your stores, your office, and all your materials your Website is must reflect your Brand.

The colors, the logo, the type of communication, all must be consistent with your offline presence.

4 – Social Media hacks

A Social Media share is like a digital billboard your costumers do for you, so make sure you have sharing buttons well visible in all your pages.

Although google saying that it doesn’t use social media as a search ranking factor, the truth is that social media means traffic and that is great for SEO and your business.

Another important thing to have, is your official profiles visible on your page for your fans know where they should find you.

5 – Analytics

Your website as more information about your business than you think.

Google Analytics gives you a complete set of measures on your traffic like: Country, city , Type of device, traffic source, destination pages, conversions, etc.

Peter Drucker, the father of management, once said “If You Can’t Measure It, You Can’t Manage It”, exploring your analytics you will come across things that you didn’t realize it would be important ,until you see it.

If you haven’t explored yet, ask your web designer for help in setting it up, and start taking analytics in consideration on your content and business.

6 – loading

Loading

Anyone has time to waste, waiting for your website to load.

You may have a fast internet connection on your office, and it all looks great but your customer could be on coffee shop, airport or simply on the move with it’s smartphone.

Optimizing your loading times mostly need programming skills but you can analyze it’s quality with Google PageSpeed Insights.

If your colors doesn’t appear green, it’s time to put your web designing team  to work.

7 – Conversions

A website takes time and money to build so you have to be very objective on your target and ROI

What is your website goal?

Generate sales, qualified leads, phone calls, physical visits, improve customer satisfaction, build awareness…

Pro Tip: Ask your Web designer to set the Goals on Google Analytics and keep track on your growth.

All your website development, content & design must flow to optimize your conversion rate, so if I had to choose the most important point, it would be the conversions.

Some other points can come to the table when building and evaluating a website, do you want to suggest another one?
